    The result of this is that I’ll end up with four novels out during , a pair of Richard Nottinghams, The Crooked Spire, my medieval book set in Chesterfield, and the one we’re coming to next. March 29 was the publication day for Emerald City. It’s a very different kind of book for me, and the only one to date that draws on the write. The former Crooked Spire pub in Chesterfield is something of an institution in the town, occupying the most prestigious of spots next to the church of St Mary and All Saints and its famous crooked spire! Renamed The Rectory, preserving it’s spiritual connections, it’s undergone a complete face lift from top-to-toe providing a cosy.

      The famous Crooked spire in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, 14th century grade 1 listed building.   I first became aware that there had been Napoleonic prisoners in Derbyshire when I came across an unusual gravestone at St Mary and All Saints church, Chesterfield, aka the Crooked Spire. The inscription translated as ‘In memory of Francois Raingeard, thirty years of age, Prisoner of War, died 1oth March ’ and bore the message ‘Stop.
