Civil servants joined a wide range of different regiments but there was a specific Civil Service unit, the Prince of Wales’s Own Civil Service Rifles. In all, 8, men enlisted in the Civil Service Rifles and 1, fell in the conflict, commemorated on the war memorial in Somerset House. It was clearly an unusual unit. Memorials to the Post Office Rifles can be found at Paignton War Memorial, at St. Lawrence Parish Church, Abbots Langley, and on a plaque outside the Uckfield village church. A Book of Remembrance is placed in the church traditionally associated with the Post Office Rifles at Church of St Botolph Aldersgate, London EC1.

58 St. Wikipedia tells us this: "In the Civil Service Rifles became part of the newly formed London Regiment and was titled 15th Battalion London Regiment (Civil Service Rifles).
During the First World War it raised three battalions, with the first Battalion arriving in France in March forming part of the 4th London Brigade, part of the 2nd London Division. The Le Touret Memorial commemora British soldiers who fell in the fighting from October until 24th Septemberwhen the Loos Memorial takes over.
Geographically it covers an area enclosed in the north by the river Lys and a line drawn from Estaires to Fournes, and in the south by the former wartime boundary of the First Army.
